December 2020 is almost here! That means the fun gets kicked into high gear with the family-friendly bucket list for winter!

We started ticking things off our family’s winter  list on Thanksgiving. It has something fun for kids (young ones and old ones) to do every day, up to Christmas!

If you’d rather wait until December to start it, that works too! Especially to keep the littles busy during winter-break.

Now that this wonderful season of thanks and celebration has finally arrived, make the most of the list to enjoy with your loved ones.

Here we go!
🌟 Bling that tree

🌟 Make a gingerbread house
I have had some major gingerbread fails, but it doesn’t stop me from trying again every year. There’s something so fun about building a tiny house made of cookies, frosting, and candy. My kiddos enjoyed and now this year with grandbabies. On Thanksgiving we had a practice run because on Christmas we are going to have a gingerbread house contest. It’s an activity that gives everyone great memories.

🌟Get out of the house and go look at the Christmas lights
Need a fun way to entertain the kiddos, and stay warm? Get everyone in the car and drive around looking at Christmas lights! Don’t forget the hot chocolate!

🌟 Make a Christmas playlist
There's a reason you just can't seem to get catchy Christmas songs out of your head.

🌟 Go see the Nutcracker Ballet
A quintessential thing to do during the holidays is to escape into a dreamland with the exquisite ballet performance of the Nutcracker. This classic Christmas story is centered around a young girl’s Christmas Eve celebration and is a must thing to do at least once in your lifetime!

🌟 Send Christmas cards
Not into sending traditional Christmas cards? Make a few homemade cards for close friends and family, letting them know how much joy they bring you!

🌟Make an Advent Calendar
An advent calendar is used to count the days until Christmas. With a little creativity you can create your own using matchboxes, clothespins or just about anything else you can possibly think of!

🌟 Go on a photo, scavenger hunt
Whether it be Nativity scenes, Christmas lights, snowman montages, or just plain old Santa Claus, set a goal and see if you can get X amount of photos in X amount of time.

🌟Make some crock-pot cocoa
Instead of a packet of instant hot chocolate, Swirl up a new hot cocoa recipe! , using your crockpot.

🌟Make salt dough ornaments
This easy fun activity  for kids of all ages including grown ups.

🌟Have a craft day with your kids
There are so many cute holiday crafts for kids that your little ones will have a blast creating for example make Christmas out of your kiddos handprints. Grandparents love these kinds of gifts.

🌟Make some spicy deco
Making spice ornaments is perhaps the easiest activity you could do with your kiddos this Christmas. Only three ingredients required: applesauce, glue, and a boatload of cinnamon. They smell amazing and make really cute gifts for teachers, neighbors, and family.

🌟Head out for some I Spy
A fun activity for the whole family is a game of I Spy, for all the Christmas trees they see in the windows of houses. Keep a running tally of white lights versus colored lights and see what number you have at the end.

🌟Make some birdseed Ornaments
This is an excellent December activity to do with the kids. Making the ornaments is fun and they’ll enjoy some bird-watching for their efforts. Also, it’s a great way to help the birds when cold season makes for fewer food sources.

🌟Mail a letter to Santa

🌟Go sledding

🌟 Take a winter hike

🌟Take a  family Christmas photo

🌟Watch a holiday favorite
So many fun classic’s out there and to watch for free on YouTube. Here are a few suggestions: It's a Wonderful Life, Home Alone, Miracle on 34th Street, Christmas Story and Frosty the Snowman.

🌟 Make paper snowflakes

🌟Start a new tradition
With so much joy, December is the perfect time to start a new tradition that will live on in years to come.

🌟Eat a candy cane
Or maybe hang one on the side of your coffee, cocoa or tea cup! They make delicious, stir-sticks.

🌟Kiss someone under the mistletoe

🌟Build a snow fort

🌟Go ice skating

🌟Decorate sugar cookies
Ice ‘em up and get crazy with the sprinkles

Do you have anything on your December bucket list that I don’t have listed here?  If you do, please share it with me and the other readers.

We’d love to hear about it and I may add it to my list!

Praying you enjoy a blessed Thanksgiving!
