LIfe's Wallpaper: Why learn Biblical Hebrew?

For many, learning a new language is an exhausting and frustrating experience, but learning Hebrew is fun and easy. You are probably saying to yourself the  language with curious-looking odd shapes alphabet written right to left? “There is no way that’s easy”.

The Hebrew alphabet is only a small hurdle and it’s not complicated. There are only 22 letters for you to learn and only five of them have a final form which means, they look different when used at the end of the word than when they appear at the beginning or in the middle. That makes only 27 new symbols to learn to recognise!

Studying biblical Hebrew will give you new insight to God’s Word and will bring the Bible from black and white to full color. Although you can still understand the meaning of Scripture in your  translated language, you can understand a scripture in more depth with the Hebrew language. Hebrew is the original language of the Bible. The twenty-two letters of Hebrew are the building blocks of Creation and is written into our DNA.

Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

The word jot translated refers to the smallest Hebrew Letter (Yod). How can we determine what a jot and tittle is without having knowledge of the original Hebrew text?

Denise thank you so much for sharing this sweet tidbit!
I am hooked!
After recently delving into The Bible Project by Timothy Mackie and Jonathan Collins, specifically Mr. Mackie's 4-5 hour video sessions on the Gospel of John, it's amazing what the Holy Scriptures have in store for us. Let's turn a page and dig a little deeper!!!

D,

Great post, posing an excellent question!

Learning to read, speak and write in multiple languages is so rewarding for many reasons. My Hebrew language studies have slowed over the last several months, but when our ScribeTribe is mostly managing their sites on their own, I'll get back to keeping it in my daily schedule.

Hebrew is my first language to study that's moving (in reading and writing) left to right. Sounds difficult, but it hasn't been and it adds some fun to the process.

Thanks for the ShoutOut to Kim Johnson's courses as well. Always awesome to be promoting independent, faith-based businesses! Kudos!
