Being a nanny is an incredible job and I absolutely love what I do. It's a privilege to be welcomed into a family's home and help care for, educate, and raise their child. The S’s are a wonderful family, and allow me to take care of their adventurous, fun-loving little girl. She has been in my care since she was eight-months-old. I want to share my crazy world of arts and crafts, recipes, Barbie school, and other fun and exciting child related adventures with you. So, from time-to-time, I’ll be blogging about Nannyhood. 2020 has been wild. We’ve tackled quarantine, virtual school and ukulele lessons. Admittedly, virtual school had me scratching my head. Last week I packed school books and a Chromebook. This week was the first week of in-person class attendance. This is V’s kindergarten year and I don’t know who was more excited, V or me. She says, I’m much more fun in Barbie school. Tears aren’t fun in the moment… ever! But through the tears of frustration during our hours of virtual school, V has learned from the experience. It’s helped her navigate emotions and pick up building blocks for future, healthy communication. We read a lot, and recently, while rummaging through her books, I came across this one. I Love You Head to Toe Written by Bonnie Rickner Jensen and illustrated by Alisa Hipp.
I Love You Head to Toe teaches littles ones through fun rhymes and delightful illustrations of how God made them special, and that they are loved from head to toe. It is a heartwarming way to start sharing God’s Word with little ones. The scripture included is, “ love you with all my heart.” II Corinthians 6:11 We used to snuggle up with this book at nap time and I am reminded in the memory that, they get only one childhood. Every stage and moment is sacred. Reading aloud to kids is so important. It gives them a jump-start on language comprehension and reading about God’s love for them helps them grow into a steadfast relationship with Him, early on. I encourage you to read aloud to the littles in your own life, whenever possible. You’ll be helping them so much and it’s quality time they’ll not soon forget. LD Browning
